INITIAL IDEAS

REPTILIAN: MYTH OR REALITY?
Date: 2023
Project type: Illustration, magazine article, typographic management
THE CHALLENGE
You are to choose a conspiracy theory, source a brief synopsis about it, then create a minimum of 5 images that show the crux of the conspiracy. You are to marry the sourced type and images into a 5 page article for inclusion in the 'History Today' magazine.
The images can be different sizes and you must use creative techniques to aid your storytelling.

The conspiracy theory I explored is the reptilian conspiracy, which claims that powerful figures, particularly the wealthy and famous, are secretly reptilian beings from another world, intent on taking control of ours.
To visualise this concept, I incorporated imagery of lizards and other reptiles fused with human features, such as the skull, creating unsettling hybrid forms. I carefully designed the layout and composition of both the illustrations and text to reflect the distinctive style of History Today magazine. For the illustrations themselves, I used mixed media, including graphite and coloured pencil, alongside textured elements created from materials such as bubble wrap to add depth and visual interest.
